28 May Deb’s In-N-Out [Epic] Sauce
My favorite day of the year is Christmas, then Easter and my birthday… and THEN comes National Hamburger Day [belated, but we’re still allowed to celebrate]… YES! 🎉
I grew up in Northern Cali. There was a little burger franchise in SoCal I used to hear great things about, called In-N-Out Burger. Sadly they didn’t come to my neck of the area until my 30’s; but once I had one, it ruined me for life… 😲
I could never find another burger that tasted THAT good. And, it wasn’t just the burger… it was the SAUCE. The sauce wasssss #epic. And, the onions? You can’t have a burger without grilled onions.
Luckily, I was able to hack someone’s recipe and create a #keto and #paleo version of the sauce. Yep, no sugar!
Introducing…
Deb’s In-N-Out [Epic] Sauce 😋
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 c @sirkensingtons avocado mayo
- 3 tbsp no-sugar @heinz ketchup
- 2 tbsp finely-minced white onion
- 2 tbsp @bubbiespickles finely minced dill pickles
- 1/2 tsp white vinegar [or, if you really like the pickle flavor, use pickle juice instead]
- 1/4 tsp yellow mustard
- 1 dash of paprika
- 1 dash of salt, to taste
DIRECTIONS:
❶ Add all the ingredients to a bowl and mix.
❷ Refrigerate! [I find that the avocado mayo makes this sauce a bit thin, so cooling it down helps it come together].
Oh, and the grilled onions? Again, they’re a #musthave component! All you do is add 2 c finely chopped white onion with 2 tbsp avocado oil…
Warm up your oil and add the onions to your sauté pan. Cook, covered for about 30 minutes [or until onions are golden and caramelized]. Remove the lid and add ½ c water. Cook until the water is absorbed.
The onions and sauce can both be made in advance and then piled on the burger of your dreams!
