Happy 4th of July!

Here are three simple tips to help you enjoy your 4th to the fullest.

Drink more water! Never underestimate the power of hydration. Plan to get at least the recommended eight glasses daily and try to time it so that you’re drinking a glass of water  about 30 minutes before each meal. Drinking water 30 minutes before the meal helps to keep your appetite in check.

Exercise for at least twenty minutes today. Walk the dog, wash the car or hit the trail-I don’t care what it is but moving your body for twenty minutes will burn more calories for the rest of the day.

Get more of the Sunshine Vitamin. Vitamin D is known as the sunshine vitamin because the body gets it by converting the sun’s rays. Still, with long hours spent in an office and high SPF sunblock, most of us aren’t getting enough of this essential vitamin. You can find out if you’re deficient by getting a simple blood test from your doctor. The RDA for all Americans is 400 IU (international units) was designed to prevent certain bone diseases, but many experts believe this number should be doubled at the very least. Vitamin D is not only important for bone health. It has many functions within the body to keep the immune system strong and healthy. Please, don’t overdo the sun! Most physicians recommend about twenty minutes.

P.S. Happy wedding anniversary to my hubby! Yes, we got married on the 4th of July so he will never forget our anniversary. Smart, huh?

Happy Anniversary, Deborah! Great to listen to you last week in Oregon and even have you share lunch at the table I was sitting at. 🙂 I read your book already too.
